Diagnostic Aids

Our services

At Santa Lucía we have trained specialists and state of the art equipment to carry out any exam or assessment your eyes require.

Our Technology

Get to know our diagnostic services and the equipment we have at our disposal to perform:

Interferometry

By practicing an interferometry the visual capabilities of a patient are defined, we are able to approximately establish up to how much we can improve a patients vision by operating the crystalline or the cornea. This exam lasts 5 minutes and the pupil must be dilated to perform this procedure.

Biometry

Biometry When a patient requires cataract surgery or refractive surgery with intraocular lens, the eye must be measured to determine the prescription of the lens that is going to be implanted to achieve the sharpest image and vision possible. This exam lasts 5 minutes.

Color Photography

Color photography allows to get a clear image of the eye taken with a special camera that through a series of photographs of the eyes interior we can detect anomalies of the optic nerves, macula lutea, among other structures.

Wide field angiography

It is an exam that helps evaluate the retinas blood flow using a contrast agent. It not only evaluates the posterior pole, it runs though the retina´s periphery.

Endothelial cell count

This is a technique that allows us to assess the state of the cells in the cornea: size, density, with the objective of identifying the state of the cornea and defining what is the best treatment or procedure to treat it.

Computerized Visual Field

The visual field test is a way that ophthalmologists measure how much visual field each eye has, and how much vision loss it may have had throughout time.

Paquimetría

La paquimetría es una prueba diagnóstica que nos permite medir el espesor corneal.

Pentacam

With this exam we evaluate the health of the cornea. It is a routine exam before various procedures and it is really important in the diagnosis, follow up, and choice of treatment in patients with keratoconus.

Ocular Ultrasound and UBM

This exam is used to evaluate the anatomy of the eye using ultrasound. It is useful to detect the presence of retinal tears, tumors, abnormal intraocular bodies, vitreous hemorrhage, and calcifications of the optic nerve.

OCT

With this exam we evaluate the thickness and anatomy of the retina. The exam lasts around 15 minutes and in many patients the dilation of the pupil is necessary.

Angioretinography

This exam allows us to evaluate the retina and is circulation. To perform this exam you must not consume foods the day of the exam and it has a duration of approximately 30 minutes.

Corneal Pachymetry

A pachymetry is a diagnostic test that allows us to measure the thickness of the cornea.
